With a line-up featuring exhibitions, as well as limited-edition pieces by Australian and international designers including Michael Anastassiades, Linde Freya Tangelder, Gio Ponti, Gaetano Pesce, Joe Colombo, Marc Newson, Ettore Sottsass and Shiro Kuramata, Gallery Twenty Twenty’s future offerings are set to be equally impressive. “One of the primary challenges was maintaining a clear curatorial direction,” Fazzari admits. “There is no shortage of talented artists interested in entering the Australian market, but for us it was never about scale, it was about alignment: building a roster that reflects the gallery’s identity required discipline. Every artist and every work needed to contribute to a broader narrative, rather than simply expanding a catalogue.” Bringing together these visionary practices under one highly considered roof, the gallery positions itself not only as an exhibition space, but perhaps also as a catalyst for redefining how we see, value, engage with and understand design within Australia. “Ultimately, it creates the right conditions for collectible design to be experienced with the same depth and seriousness as fine art,” Fazzari says. “For us, it marks the beginning of a platform that will continue to grow, evolve and build its own cultural dialogue over time, [hopefully becoming] a point of reference for collectors, designers and the wider cultural community.”
