Amid some concerning theories, Pedro Pascal addresses Din Djarin’s future after The Mandalorian and Grogu.

One of the more prominent Mandalorian and Grogu theories is that Din will die in the upcoming film. Saying in the trailers, “The kid will live centuries beyond me” and “I won’t always be around to protect him” have added to the speculation around Din’s fate, as has the tagline of a new television spot being: “His greatest mission could be his last.”

During a Q&A in London (via GamesRadar+), Pascal spoke about how grateful he is to have been playing Din for so long now, explaining that “I’m completely grateful. It’s the longest creative relationship I’ve had, it’s the character that I’ve played the longest.” He also hinted that The Mandalorian and Grogu may not be the end of him in the role, since “Hopefully I get to continue playing him for as long as my body, or as many bodies as we put into the suit, can take it.”

While this does not confirm Din surviving The Mandalorian and Grogu, Pascal talking about wanting to continue playing him bodes well for the character surviving the movie. As indicated in these comments, that doesn’t just involve Pascal, as he is the voice and the face of Din, but Lateef Crowder and Brendan Wayne do most of the physical work inside the Mandalorian suit of armor.

Jon Favreau has previously confirmed that The Mandalorian season 4 was written before plans changed and the movie became the story’s next chapter. A fourth season on Disney+ or a movie sequel are both possibilities, as are Din and Grogu showing up in a Star Wars project where they are not the main stars. Ahsoka season 2 is on the way and there are theories about how The Mandalorian and Grogu’s ending could set that up, and whether the two characters will be in the upcoming season.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will expand on the larger story of the New Republic’s conflict with the Imperial Remnant, which is also vital to Ahsoka and its story of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return to the galaxy, although there has been no confirmation that Thrawn will appear in the film. Din’s New Republic allies in the movie include a brand-new character, Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver), and Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios (Steve Blum), the latter of whom was first introduced in the animated series Star Wars Rebels.
