Fitness personality and entrepreneur Jake Steinfeld has teamed up with iHeartMedia and Universal Music Enterprises to launch Body By Jake Radio, a 24-hour digital radio channel focused on fitness, motivation and mental wellness.
The channel launched on Monday (May 11) in connection with Mental Health Awareness Month and is available free through the iHeartRadio app.
According to the companies, the station will combine music programming with motivational messages, fitness advice and wellness content. The channel will feature Steinfeld along with guests from the fitness and mental health fields and will offer different programming throughout the day designed to energize listeners in the morning and help them relax at night.
Steinfeld, known for his “Body By Jake” fitness brand, helped pioneer televised fitness programming through ventures including exercise segments on CNN, the FitTV network and ExerciseTV on-demand programming.
“Like I’ve done all my career, we’re bringing something to the radio landscape that’s never been done before — motivation and inspiration inside the fabric of the best music on the planet,” Steinfeld says in a news release. “It’ll be 72 and sunny every day at Body By Jake Radio, where we are here to encourage people every single day: ‘Don’t Quit!’ Keep pushing forward, no matter what.”
Jon Zellner, President of Programming Operations and Digital Music for iHeartMedia, said the launch aligns with Mental Health Awareness Month. “Mental Health Awareness Month is a powerful reminder to take care of ourselves, and each other, and we’re proud to bring Body By Jake Radio and Jake’s decades of experience helping people feel their best to our listeners,” Zellner says.
Bruce Resnikoff, Chairman of Universal Music Enterprises, says the partnership builds on Steinfeld’s long-running emphasis on the relationship between music and motivation.
“With Body By Jake Radio, we’re building on that momentum by combining UMe’s unparalleled catalog with programming that speaks to today’s mental health and wellness-focused audience,” Resnikoff offers. “With iHeartMedia, we’re creating a dynamic new platform where great music and positive messaging come together to inspire listeners around the world.”
