Australian singer Cody Simpson has shared a tragic health update with fans, revealing that he’s been unable to use his voice for “weeks”.
The popular singer took to social media on Tuesday morning, revealing he’s been “on and off vocal rest for weeks” after discovering a “serious haemorrhage on one of his vocal cords.
He revealed he’s been forced to cancel numerous scheduled appearances, and said his health struggles had derailed the release of his new single.
“I originally thought I could keep this private but it’s come time I share what I’ve been going through,” wrote the star.

“Just over a month ago, we discovered a serious haemorrhage on one of my vocal cords…
“I assumed it was just fatigue and kept showing up to the studio until one day I could no longer sing properly. I’ve now been on and off vocal rest for weeks, cancelling TV and radio performances for Baby Blue in the process.”
Simpson revealed that he is now enduring “two weeks of silence” in the hopes of avoiding surgery which would require a lengthy and painful recovery process.
“I’m back in the studio now writing strictly as a lyricist on mute with my collaborators, and hearing/writing my vocal melodies on my guitar (which I will eventually replace with my voice when I’m able to),” he continued.
“Where there’s a will, there’s a way. I’d like to bring you on the journey. I’ve been extremely up and down but am now reframing this as a realignment for the long-term good.
The singer added: “In the meantime, should I start sharing some of what I’ve already finished?”
Meanwhile, it’s been a tough few months for the singer, who recently split with his girlfriend of four years.
Simpson and Emma McKeon first went Instagram official in July, 2022, having kept their romance secret for two months.
The Daily Telegraph first reported the pair quietly separated at the end of 2025.
According to an insider close to the former couple, Simpson, 29, and McKeon, 31, “are still really good friends” and separated amicably.
McKeon retired in November, 2024, as Australia’s most decorated Olympian, winning 14 medals — six gold, three silver and five bronze.
Simpson, famously returned to elite swimming after more than 10 years of pursuing his music career in Hollywood.
Four years after returning to the pool, Simpson won a Commonwealth Games gold medal as a heat swimmer in Australia’s 4x100m freestyle relay.
However, he fell short of his lifelong dream of representing Australia at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
