Planning to watch Google I/O next week to see all the new Gemini features coming soon? If so, there’s another smaller, yet connected event happening today that you might not want to miss. It’s called The Android Show I/O Edition and it takes place one week ahead of Google I/O, with a bigger focus on Android specifics. That could include new hardware or Android XR news, but Google hasn’t officially given any hints about what might be announced.
At the event last year, Google announced Material 3 Expressive to give the OS a more playful vibe. It also expanded Gemini to more areas like Wear OS, Google TV and Android Auto. Additionally, Android received new security features for things like detecting spam texts and calls, as well as a new Key Verifier tool to make sure you’re talking to the right person. Google also announced Find Hub, which is designed to track your Android devices and other accessories.
