Hamilton dirt bike riders: 1 arrest as police hunt more offenders

One person has been arrested, and police are on the hunt for more after “antisocial” dirt bike riders took over Hamilton roads at the weekend.

Waikato police said they received multiple calls on Saturday after riders reportedly cut across sports fields and took over intersections.

Senior Sergeant Aimee Whitley confirmed
one person was arrested and referred to Youth Aid, but said police needed the public’s help to find others involved.

“While we acknowledge it can be challenging to identify offenders when they are riding in groups or wearing face coverings, we will continue to investigate all information provided to us in order to hold these people accountable,” she said.
