Hopes from some environmentalists that the Government may have turned a corner on its treatment of climate and nature on Monday will have been dashed by a one-two-three punch of legislative moves decried as regressive across Tuesday.
Associate Environment Minister Andrew Hoggard, an Act MP and former Federated Farmers president, accomplished the unlikely with his announcement of Government support for a voluntary carbon and nature market at the start of the week. Both the Feds and Forest & Bird released statements within minutes of one another, praising the move.
