Locomotive head coach praised Fernandez’s ability after he had been signed.
“Cristo is a great addition to our roster, adding another attacking threat to our forward line,” Gonzalez said.
Fernandez now has the chance to make his name in the USL Championship, after also trialling with the second team of Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire earlier this year.
The Mexican moved to London as part of his acting career and was cast in Ted Lasso.
He starred in the Apple TV+ show from 2020 to 2023 and the series won multiple awards over its initial run.
Ted Lasso will return for a fourth season, with Jason Sudeikis, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein and Hannah Waddingham set to reprise their roles.
