The Welsh school choir impressed the Britain’s Got Talent judges with their performance of Never Enough from the Greatest Showman.

Before the audition the boys’ choir, comprising pupils aged between 11 and 18, were seen anxiously peering from backstage, catching glimpses of the judging panel before taking to the stage.

Simon then revealed he had a “little surprise” for his fellow panellists, explaining that choirmaster Lloyd Macey was a former X Factor contestant and that he had met with him, and the choir, previously.

The judge surprised the choir from Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf when they thought they were attending the unveiling of a statue honouring someone significant in music. What they were unaware of was that it wasn’t a genuine statue whatsoever – it was actually the reality star himself.

After their impressive performance, Amanda declared they had done “Wales proud”.

She said : “I love that song. The arrangement, the harmonising. I thought you did Wales proud.” Aleesha Dixon praised choirmaster Lloyd, saying “I think a great choir needs a strong leader and Lloyd, you are a fantastic leader. I enjoyed watching you just as much as I did the choir.”

Simon then said: “I actually got quite emotional, this was just brilliant. This is what a great choir is all about. Having fun. Great song choices. Great leader.”

A visibly thrilled Simon added: “You are going back to Wales with four gigantic yeses.”
