Among the attendees were British actors Helen Mirren and Damien Lewis, both of whom have played royals themselves. Lewis portrayed Henry VIII in the miniseries adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall and its sequel, Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light. He was also the voice of King George III in the Ken Burns-directed PBS documentary series The American Revolution.
Mirren, meanwhile, has played several queens, including George’s wife Queen Charlotte in the 1994 film The Madness of King George, and Queen Elizabeth I in the 2005 HBO miniseries Elizabeth I. Most famously, Mirren played King Charles’s mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in the 2006 film The Queen and the 2013 play The Audience, for which she won an Oscar and Tony, respectively.
