Both the Wests Tigers and Warriors have been dealt major blows to their season with Taylan May and in-form halfback Tanah Boyd most likely having played their last game of 2026. The Tigers’ season has taken a huge turn in recent weeks having conceded more than 40 points in three straight NRL losses.
Injuries are mounting for Benji Marshall with the likes of Adam Doueihi and Samuela Fainu still out for a number of weeks. Jahream Bula is closing in on a return, but has been a major loss. Co-captain Api Koroisau is yet to return from his three game suspension.

And Marshall could be without their top centre for the remainder of the season with May set to undergo scans on his injured shoulder. May missed a number of games after round two due to his shoulder injury.
The centre returned and showed some strong form in a struggling Tigers outfit. However, May was injured in the loss to Manly in Magic Round with concerns over the same shoulder.
And coach Marshall admitted May’s season could be over after dislocating his shoulder once again. “Not good, I think it dislocated so again, he will have to get a scan, but it could be the season,” Marshall said after the 46-18 loss. ‘NRL Physio’ Brien Seeney suggested May is more than likely to re-injure his shoulder unless he undergoes surgery.
Jock Madden is also a doubt heading into their next game after injuring his hamstring late in the game. While the Tigers will welcome back Koroisau after the bye in Round 12, missing May in the inexperienced backline is a huge blow for the side.
“We get Api back next week, Jahream [Bula] is a chance, Heamasi [Makasini] could be back in the frame, and probably a couple more there too, but having the bye is the first start, have a bit of time off, reset and start again,” Marshall added about the returning stars. But the Wests Tigers were not the only side dealt a huge blow.
Tanah Boyd likely ruled out for season
The Warriors are in sensational form as they sit second on the ladder after dismantling the Broncos 44-12 during Magic Round. However, the win was overshadowed after in-form halfback Boyd stopped in his tracks after what appeared to be an ACL injury.
Boyd took a step back on the inside in the first few minutes of the game, but immediately stopped and surrendered in the tackle. Boyd was clutching at his knee and it appears the halfback has ruptured his ACL in a season ending injury.

This is a major blow and was the exact same team and ground Luke Metcalf did his ACL last year for the Warriors. Boyd was in the State of Origin selection frame and the injury is a major blow for Andrew Webster and the Warriors.
Webster hinted Metcalf could be in line for a return next weekend against the Dragons earlier in the week. This comes after the halfback signed for close to $1 million a season for the Dragons next year.
Te Maire Martin returned for his first game of 2026 after Boyd went off injured. He could also be in line to remain in the halves after a solid performance.
