Emergency services rushed to Auckland Airport after a reports of fire on an incoming plane.

Ambulances were on standby as the plane landed safely before noon on Friday.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand said it alerted to an emergency at 11.05am on Friday morning.

Hato Hone St John would not confirm if there had been any injuries.

“We have received reports a Qantas flight from Sydney had a fire on board,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

The airfield was returning to normal about midday, but there could be some slight delays for departing and arriving flights.

Sixteen fire trucks from the Auckland area responded to the incident.

Several ambulances were idling near the tarmac.
