Beasley Media Group announced that Tampa cluster Brand Manager Rick Thomas will depart the company effective June 1 as he steps away from the radio business to focus on family.

Thomas joined Beasley Media Group Tampa in January 2023 and has overseen the company’s Tampa-based cluster, including rhythmic CHR “Wild 94.1” WLLD, country WQYK (99.5), classic hits “Q105” WRBQ, Spanish tropical “92.5 Maxima” WYUU, the former “98.7 The Shark” classic rock WPBB, and former sports WHFS-AM. In addition to his cluster leadership responsibilities, he also served as Program Director for WRBQ and WQYK.

Prior to joining Beasley, Thomas served as National Format Leader for Summit Media. His programming career also included leadership roles with Cox Media Group’s Tampa cluster and CBS Radio, where he worked on stations in both New York and Los Angeles.

Beasley Media Group Tampa Vice President and Market Manager Ron deCastro credited Thomas for his leadership during his tenure in the market.

“Rick has been an important part of our team here in Tampa, and we’re grateful for the leadership and heart he has brought to the organization,” deCastro said in the announcement. “We fully support his decision to focus on his family and this next chapter, and we wish him continued happiness and success in all that lies ahead.”

Beasley Chief Content Officer Justin Chase also praised Thomas’ impact on the company and its brands.

“Rick has been a steady, respected leader and a true partner across our teams,” Chase said. “From leading nationally as a format leader at Summit Media and guiding successful multi-format brands in Tampa, New York, and Los Angeles, Rick brought an incredible depth of experience and strategic vision to Beasley.”

Chase added that Thomas led “with passion, integrity, creativity, and a genuine commitment to both the brands and people around him.”

Thomas reflected on his departure by thanking the Tampa staff and company leadership.

“It has been an incredible experience working alongside such a talented team,” Thomas said. “I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished together and deeply appreciative of the relationships built along the way. At this point in my life, I’m looking forward to focusing on family and what comes next.”
