A person is in custody after a fleeing-vehicle incident in Tauranga this morning.
Police spotted a vehicle travelling at speed on the Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road in Mount Maunganui at about 10.50am.
Although police did not pursue the vehicle, officers continued to observe it.
The vehicle was then spiked on Parton Rd just after 11.10am.
However, it continued travelling back north towards Tauranga, before the occupant eventually abandoned the vehicle on Keith Allen Drive.

Police confronted the man on the pier, but police say he was aggressive towards the officers and ended up jumping into the harbour.
He was taken into custody at about 12:10pm and police are considering charges.
