Tonight will mark the unofficial beginning of summer as the American Music Awards take place tonight with music’s best performances and artists, such as Billy Idol, Keith Urban, Teyana Taylor among many others. You can catch all the action on the CBS network or through streaming on Paramount+, beginning from 8 PM ET/5 PM PT. This award show claims to be the largest fan voted ceremony in the world. Most of the voting period was closed by now; however, you can still cast your vote during the first 30 minutes of the broadcast for Social Song of the Year and Tour of the Year on their website or Instagram page.
Hosted by Queen Latifah, who will join the AMAs after hosting the award ceremony in 1995 and performing several times, the most nominated artist is none other than Taylor Swift, who received eight nominations for her latest album “The Life of a Showgirl.” Her album is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album while two songs from it were nominated as well: “The Fate of Ophelia,” Song of the Year, Best Music Video and Best Pop Song and “Elizabeth Taylor” for Song of the Summer.
Already, Swift has won an AMA a record 40 times in her career, beating all other artists in doing so. In addition, she is nominated for artist of the year and best female pop artist this year.

Just one step behind Swift is Morgan Wallen, Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, and Sombr, each with seven nominations apiece. However, the AMA’s isn’t all about giving out trophies. This year, legendary rocker Billy Idol will be honored with a lifetime achievement award, where he will play a medley of his famous songs like “Dancing With Myself,” “Rebel Yell” and “White Wedding.”
Country icon Keith Urban will sing a song off his upcoming yacht rock album entitled “Flow State.” On the other hand, Teyana Taylor will perform a medley of hits from her album “Escape Room.” Last January, Teyana won a Golden Globe Award for playing her role in “One Battle After Another,” and is now nominated for best female R&B artist at the AMAs.
However, not to be left out of all the action, are some groups who have gained immense popularity since their days of fame, namely Hootie and the Blowfish, New Kids on the Block, and The Pussycat Dolls.
The K-pop stars, BTS, will also be gracing the audience with their presence. In fact, after taking a break for about four years to complete their mandatory military service, the group has been on an international tour since March. It is also worth noting that they will appear in the AMAs after a gap of four years.
