Longworth and his family are converting a property in Elsthorpe to biodynamic growing with a focus on medicinal herbs.
He holds a Bachelor of Natural Medicine.
Longworth connected with biodynamics during his schooling at Taikura, the Steiner school in Hastings, a release announcing his candidacy stated.
Longworth’s campaign will reflect his environmental interests, particularly water management and sustainable land use.
Transparent governance, strengthening regional communities and mental health access are also high priorities.
“These are critical areas of concern for the people of Tukituki with the climate change hardships our communities are facing,” he said.
“At the heart of all this is my commitment to keeping Te Tiriti, the Treaty of Waitangi, central to our decisions.”
Longworth is also studying te reo Māori part-time at EIT.
His earlier working years included stints as a DJ and music producer in Australia and New Zealand.
