Armed police on Dekker Rd in Pyes Pa, Tauranga.

A large police operation is underway in a Tauranga suburb this morning.

A reader, who did not want to be named, said police were seen on Dekker Rd in Pyes Pa just after 8am.

“There were armed police, detectives and a HAZMAT truck.”

Police said the operation is in “relation
to a pre-planned search warrant”.
