One of Charlotte radio’s longest-running morning shows is coming to an end as Beasley Media Group announced that “Country 103.7” WSOC morning personalities Rob Tanner, Catherine Lane and Chris Allen will retire from their day-to-day roles following a 22-year run together on “Tanner in the Morning.”
The trio’s final broadcast is scheduled for Friday, June 19. They join several other hosts, programmers, and executives to leave the company over the past few weeks.
Since launching in mornings more than two decades ago, Tanner, Lane and Allen became a staple for country listeners across the Carolinas, blending humor, artist interviews, local conversation and community involvement into a show that developed a strong regional following.
Beasley Media Group Charlotte Vice President and Market Manager Mac Edwards said the hosts helped define the station’s identity and relationship with listeners.
“Tanner, Catherine, and Chris have been an important part of the fabric of Country 103.7 and the Charlotte area since the very beginning,” Edwards said. “They created a show that listeners welcomed into their homes, cars, and lives every morning.”
During their run together, the show earned more than 18 ACM and CMA Award nominations, helping solidify its place among the country format’s most recognized local morning programs.
Beasley Chief Content Officer Justin Chase credited the team with building a level of listener loyalty that few morning shows achieve.
“Few morning shows create the kind of lasting connection and loyalty that this team built with listeners across the Carolinas,” Chase said. “Their genuine energy, natural chemistry, and strong connection with the community made mornings on WSOC-FM feel truly unforgettable.”
Program Director Cameron Moore added, “What began as a radio show all those years ago has become a daily tradition shared with generations of listeners. On behalf of the station, I am so grateful for the memories they created, and the incredible legacy that they leave behind.”
Tanner reflected on the show’s longevity and the friendships built both on and off the air during the past two decades.
“We are proud to be the longest running and most successful morning show in the history of WSOC-FM,” Tanner said. “Charlotte and the Carolinas welcomed us like family, and I’ll always be grateful for the friendships, memories, and incredible experiences along the way.”
Lane, who also hosted middays on the station for 27 years, said she is especially proud of the team’s local connections and community impact throughout her career in Charlotte broadcasting.
“Getting to work with three of best friends, Tanner, Chris, and Captain Jim has been a blast,” she said. “We have so much fun together and with our listeners.”
Allen noted that he grew up listening to WSOC-FM before eventually joining the station himself. “To be a part of the longest running morning show on Country 103.7 has truly been a blessing in my life,” he said.
Combined, “Tanner in the Morning” and “The Catherine Lane Show” earned 17 ACM and CMA Award nominations and won two ACM Awards during their run.
Beasley said longtime traffic reporter and contributor Captain Jim will remain with the company, continuing to provide traffic updates across the cluster’s stations each morning.
The company said details regarding WSOC’s future morning lineup will be announced at a later date.
