Ascendo Immersive Audio announced the DSP4-6602, a new high-performance DSP amplifier engineered to solve one of the most persistent challenges in luxury home cinema: delivering extreme power for demanding installations without compromising the refinement and features required for residential environments. Leveraging the most recent professional audio technology, the German company continues its relentless pursuit of extreme power and dynamics, elevating the home theater experience to whole new levels.

While many home cinema amplifiers lack the sustained output and low-frequency authority needed to properly drive large-format subwoofer systems, traditional professional amplifiers often introduce compromises unsuitable for residential use, including excessive fan noise, limited control integration, and inconvenient operation. The DSP4-6602 was developed to bridge that gap.

Purpose-built for real-world low-frequency duty, the DSP4-6602 delivers sustained output down to 5Hz while providing up to 6600 watts RMS of amplification capability. Stable at 2 Ohms and bridgeable into 4 Ohm loads, the amplifier is engineered to control even the largest Ascendo infrasonic and high-output subwoofer systems with precision, authority, and long-term reliability.

Unlike many pro-grade amplifiers adapted for residential use, the DSP4-6602 incorporates installation-friendly features designed specifically for luxury home cinema integration. Its low-noise cooling system enables quiet in-room operation, while advanced control features include selectable 12V trigger input logic, trigger output, configurable auto-standby, and Ethernet-based multi-amplifier management for larger systems.

The low-impedance, high-current amplification design is optimized for high efficiency and operational stability. The internal switching power supply includes active power factor correction (PFC) and soft-switching technology, designed for audio applications and operation with power supplies that may exhibit voltage variation within the specified limits. Each amplifier includes an integrated digital signal processor (DSP). On models equipped with network audio capability, a single Cat6 Ethernet connection supports bidirectional digital audio transmission and amplifier monitoring functions. Dante network audio functionality is available on Dante-enabled models.

According to Ascendo, built-in DSP features include input delay per channel up to 100ms, output delay up to 20ms, in 0.01ms steps. Each sound source can be delay matched 0–10 ms, and level matched up to -18 dB~+18 dB. The DSP4-6602 offers 4×4 audio routing mixing, an 8-section input parameter EQ, 8-section output parameter EQ, high and low pass filter, FIR filters, volume, mute, and polarity adjustment. Speaker parameters can be configured, and there’s an output average value, and peak voltage limiter that can be configured and recalled.

“The DSP4-6602 has both the brute-force low-frequency performance and residential refinement that today’s high-end cinemas require,” says Geoffrey Heinzel, co-managing partner of Ascendo. “This amplifier gives integrators and designers a solution capable of handling demanding subwoofer systems without the compromises typically associated with professional amplification at this level.”

Whether deployed as a standalone flagship amplifier or integrated into a clean 19” equipment rack, the DSP4-6602 provides the power density, control sophistication, and operational refinement needed for next-generation immersive cinema environments.
