For more than five decades, Warren Beatty shared a close bond with Dustin Hoffman and Jack Nicholson — but a source says the Bonnie and Clyde legend has recently gone quiet on his Hollywood pals.
“Warren’s been so reclusive lately that Jack and Dustin have barely seen him over the last year and a half,” the source tells Closer. “It’s tough, because Warren is a friend they would both do just about anything for.”
As Closer previously reported, the 89-year-old icon prefers to stay away from the spotlight these days, even as wife Annette Bening enjoys a career comeback — most recently appearing in the Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch.
“He’s accomplished everything he wants to in his career and keeping up with the Hollywood rat race holds no interest to him,” says the source. “He doesn’t need to be the center of attention anymore!”

But the fact that the actor’s now keeping close confidants like Nicholson, 89, and Hoffman, 88, at bay has raised some concern, says the source.
In the 1970s, Beatty was so tight with his The Fortune costar that he moved to LA’s Mulholland Drive to be nearer to Nicholson, per ScreenRant.
The street was allegedly nicknamed “Bad Boy Drive,” thanks to the famous buddies.
“Jack and Warren have been best friends for the better part of their adult lives,” notes the source.
Meanwhile, Hoffman affectionately recalls meeting Beatty in the 1960s at a Baskin Robbins, an origin story which was revealed as he presented his longtime ally with an AFI Life Achievement Award.
Years after they fatefully crossed paths, the men shared the screen in Ishtar and Dick Tracy.
Despite his current, self-imposed seclusion, “Warren remains a North Star for Jack and Dustin,” says the source. “He’s the peer they will always look up to.”
