I’d have to go with Blue Rose Cafe. The food is always on point, and it’s one of those places you can rely on whether you’re catching up with friends or just grabbing a solid feed to start the day.
Best restaurant for dinner with friends?
For dinner, it’s definitely Hanna Korean BBQ. It’s perfect for a group setting – great food, interactive cooking and just an all-around good vibe when you’re out with friends. Also his special seasoning spice is out of this world.
The place to take a visitor to?
I’m a big foodie, so I love taking visitors to the Auckland Night Markets. They pop up in different locations around the city throughout the week, and it’s a great way to try a variety of foods all in one place while soaking in the atmosphere.
Best spot to finish a night out?
Honestly, my favourite place to end a night is home. It’s the best way to recharge, relax, and reset before getting ready to tackle whatever the next day brings.
Best coffee?
I’m not a big coffee drinker, but when I do feel like one, I’ll go to either Ruby Red Cafe or the cafe at Māngere Arts Centre. Both have a good vibe and never disappoint.
Favourite fish-and-chip shop?
My go-to is Toby’s Seafood. You can’t beat a solid fish and chips feed, and having fresh seafood options there just takes it to another level.
Hiking trail?
The Mercer Bay Loop Track is my favourite. The views are unreal, and it’s a great trail whether you’re going solo or with others. Probably not a good track if you have a baby stroller.
Venue for a gig?
I’d say Māngere Arts Centre. It’s got a special place for me – it’s where everything really started, so it always feels meaningful going back there.
Best spot for a bargain?
I’m a big fan of op shops. You never know what you’re going to find, and there are always hidden gems if you take the time to look.
