Serious crash closes SH25 near Whangamatā, one airlifted to hospital

A person with critical injuries has been airlifted to an Auckland hospital after a crash on State Highway 25 near Whangamatā this afternoon.

The serious crash has closed SH25 in both directions between Whitipirorua Rd and Aileen Place, according to the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi website.

Police said a
single car was involved in the crash, which has left two injured, one critically and another seriously.

“The critically injured person has been airlifted to Auckland,” police said.
