Comedian Jim Jefferies has revealed why he turned down an offer to host the Logies.

The popular comedian, who hosts The 1% Club Australia on Channel 7, told Triple M Breakfast with Beau, Cat & Woodsy that he was offered the gig a few years ago.

“I might sound like a bit of an a-hole saying this … I was offered the job before Sam (Pang) was,” Jefferies said. “I’m too much of a coward. I said no.”

The star added that he would have considered the gig had he been up for an award at the time.

“I said, ‘look, maybe if I was nominated for something, but I can’t show up un-nominated. I’m not going to the Logies if I’m not nominated for a Logie.’”

After Jefferies passed, the hosting role went to Pang who helmed the awards show for three years in a row, receiving rave reviews.

But Pang confirmed last month that he will not be hosting the event this year.

“I’ve had three great years, and it was wonderful, but I’m just not going to do it this year,” he told the SMH.

“I’m well aware I may never do it again, and whoever does it I’m sure will do a great job, but I just thought three was a nice number,” he said.

The Logies will be held in Sydney on August 16 and will air on Channel 7, with Pang telling the SMH that he would love to see Kitty Flanagan and Anne Edmonds host the show.

The two comedians have presented together at both the Logies and AACTAs in the past, often stealing the show in the process.

At last year’s Logies when presenting an award, Edmonds joked, “I’m wearing a suit by Tarocash, coincidentally the same black suit worn to court by Ben Roberts-Smith … allegedly.”

Flanagan then chimed in with, “And I’m wearing Noni B, who has just done a collab with Erin Patterson … allegedly.”

They were also in cracking form at last year’s AACTAs, telling the star-studded crowd, “Very important to turn your phone off tonight … unless you want thousands of messages from Binge offering you KAYO. Nobody knows what it is and no one wants it!”
