A fire investigator was also requested.
On arrival, the spokesman said the single-storey house fire was “well-involved”.
He said the fire was reportedly extinguished about 7pm and crews were dampening it down.
The spokesman said no people were reported inside the building.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand said they received reports of a house fire in Rānui at 6.25pm.
Police said they did not receive a report of the incident.
