Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been called out for allegedly attempting to undermine the Royal Family with their own personal announcements. The new bombshell claim has led the Duke of Sussex, 41, reportedly landing the nickname “Hijack Harry” by Buckingham Palace staff.
A royal source told RadarOnline: “Harry’s new nickname among some staff is ‘Hijack Harry’ because there’s a growing feeling every major royal event is suddenly accompanied by a Sussex announcement, photograph release or intervention that is seen as a pathetic attempt to shift the spotlight back onto them.” The most recent example came when Meghan, 44, released unseen photos from their wedding while King Charles and Queen Camilla were on a three-day visit to Northern Ireland.
Reacting to the latest claim with Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield was fully in agreement as she listed off all the times Harry has attempted to take attention away from the Royal Family.
“Days before King Charles visits victims of anti-semitism in the UK, Harry writes that op-ed for the New Statesman which a lot of us found completely inappropriate and bizarre. It it does feel like they tried to distract from the British royal family.”
Kinsey joked that she was bitter she didn’t come up with Hijack Harry as a nickname for the Duke.
Rita described the nickname as “pretty damn good” before suggesting that Meghan needed a new one because “the Ginger and the Whinger” was “getting old”.
“What a metaphor for Meghan Markle‘s fickle relationships. Predictably, social media had a field day,” Kinsey said.
“They joked that the matches were an interesting choice for someone frequently accused of burning bridges. You know, pointing to Megan’s ongoing estrangement from both the royal family and her poor father, Thomas Markle. The marketing campaign wrote itself here, Rita.”
