“Meanwhile the alleged offender was stopped as he was attempting to get into his car and leave the area.”
The injured man was taken to hospital to treat his moderate injuries.
Richardson acknowledged the assistance of people in the area at the time and welcomed the swift progression of the matter to court.
“Security staff know they have obligations around their conduct and there is no place for violence in our community,” he said.
“We certainly do not expect this from people who are in jobs intended to keep people safe when out enjoying themselves.”
The Auckland man is set to appear in Auckland District Court on June 10.
