Maddox Jolie-Pitt filed to legally remove “Pitt” from his last name in May, and now, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s eldest child has a court date set to explain his reasoning.
In court documents obtained by In Touch, Maddox, 24, will head back to court on September 14 to give his reasons for wanting to remove his father’s last name.
Angelina, 51, and Brad, 62, share a total of five children – Maddox, Pax, 22, Zahara, 22, Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17, and three of them have distanced themselves from their father with a legal name change.
Shiloh was the first to file documents on her 18th birthday in May 2024. A source previously told In Touch that the Ocean’s 11 star had no idea she was planning on making the change.

“Brad was blindsided by Shiloh dropping his last name, but he wasn’t surprised,” the source said at the time. “He feels that Angie has slowly but surely turned their kids against him. She absolutely influenced their decisions to distance themselves from their dad.”
Zahara followed in her younger sister’s footsteps and began dropping “Pitt” from her introductions after enrolling at Spelman College. She was introduced as Zahara Marley Jolie when she joined her sorority in 2024, and when she graduated last month, she was called the same as she walked across the stage to receive her diploma.
As In Touch previously reported, Zahara, 21, filed paperwork on April 28 officially requesting to change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie.
