We are so excited to announce that the winner of Unearthed High 2026 is Trophy Wyfe! We were lucky enough to surprise the band during a whole school assembly performance, where Concetta and Luka from triple j Breakfast joined them on stage with a confetti cannon after the band finished performing their track ‘Spiders’.

The band’s drummer Neve has already finished high school so to make the moment happen, we worked with the school principal to bring her back to campus under the guise of a special assembly performance.
When asked how they are feeling after the surprise:
Tallis “Feeling really, really good, but in shock – this is crazy”
Neve “I think I’m still shaking a little bit”
Rex “Yeah this is crazy”
Trophy Wyfe were selected from over one thousand entries submitted by high school artists across Australia. The Newcastle trio have been gaining attention for their tight blend of indie rock and post-punk, packed with sharp riffs, driving energy and a fast-rising sense of confidence.
Despite still being in or recently out of high school, the band are already working towards their debut album, due in the second half of 2026, with ‘Spiders’ the latest release from the project.
Their Unearthed High-winning track received strong support on the Unearthed platform, with glowing listener reactions helping to set them apart in a competitive field of finalists.
