Wilson set the New Zealand under-18 heptathlon record in 2018, which she still holds, won the national heptathlon title in 2024 and the long jump national title in 2025.
At the 2026 New Zealand Combined Events Championships, Wilson set six personal bests to win the national title with 6059 points and surpass the Commonwealth Games qualifying standard.
Wilson, 24 and a civil engineering student at the University of Canterbury, is coached by James Sandiland, who won Coach of the Year at the 2026 Halberg Awards after guiding Kerr to Paris Olympic Games and 2025 world championship titles.
Wilson attended Central primary school and Gisborne Intermediate.
She was head prefect and Dux of Gisborne Girls’ High School in 2019, won age group gold medals for Waikanae Surf Life Saving Club at the national champs, and played First XI football and netball during her time at the school.
Wilson’s selection for the Glasgow Games follows that of Gisborne’s Sydnee Andrews in the judo team.
It will be Wilson’s first Commonwealth Games.
