Live music was a constant in the couple’s lives. In a past interview with Rolling Stone, Barker said he loved to highlight smaller artists on the show.
“When we have put independent artists on who get their first sync or their first time on a big show like this – I’ve seen Instagram videos in the past of them seeing their song on television for the first time, flipping out. As a music head and a music lover, that’s the coolest thing in the world.”
Outside of television, Barker spent two decades working as a DJ across the United States, the Independent reported.
Love Island USA executive producer James Barker has died aged 40 after an unexpected medical emergency while filming in Fiji.
Roth said James’ life was “cut way too short” but they took advantage of the time they had together.
“I am so proud of the work he did and that he was surrounded by such an amazing team. His loss is unimaginable,” Roth continued.
“While it was not enough, I am so thankful for the time we had and the memories we made together,” NBC News reported.
Barker began his television career in 2011, with early production credits including Counting Cars, Pawn Stars, and the Emmy-winning series Queer Eye.
Barker’s life will be commemorated on the next episode of Love Island USA, according to the show’s network, Peacock.
