Instant Payments Namibia (IPN) has officially unveiled WayaMe, the new, consumer-facing brand for Namibia’s Instant Payment Solution (IPS).

The launch marks a critical milestone in modernizing how Namibians handle money, aiming to create a highly inclusive, seamless, and digitally enabled payment ecosystem nationwide.

Derived from the familiar phrase “Wire Me”, WayaMe reflects a simple and relatable expression commonly associated with sending money electronically. The name was intentionally selected for its familiarity, ease of use, and relevance to everyday payment interactions. It embodies the vision of a payment experience that is instant, accessible, and designed around the needs of all Namibians.

WayaMe is the consumer-facing brand of Namibia’s Instant Payment Solution through which users can access and recognise payment services enabled by the platform.

IPN, in a statement, said the brand will play an important role in supporting public awareness, understanding, and adoption of Namibia’s fast payment solution, coupled with the phased introduction of new products, services, and use cases that will modernise the national payment ecosystem.

4. The Instant Payment Solution is a key enabler of the National Payment System (NPS) Vision 2030, supporting the development of a more inclusive, interoperable, and digitally enabled payments ecosystem for Namibia. Importantly, it advances the Vision’s objective of interoperability, allowing payments to move seamlessly between banks, wallets, and other payment channels, while expanding access to secure and affordable digital financial services for all Namibians.

According to IPN, over time, the platform will support a range of payment use cases, including Government-to-Person payments, person-to-person transfers, merchant payments, business payments, and the ability to withdraw funds from any wallet from any ATM.

As part of the national rollout, participating financial institutions and payment service providers will progressively incorporate WayaMe into their consumer education, awareness, and marketing initiatives. Consumers will begin to see the brand featured across public awareness campaigns, digital platforms, educational material, and payment-related communications, helping to build familiarity and confidence in the platform and its associated services.

While participating institutions will continue to maintain their individual brands, customer interfaces and service offerings, WayaMe will serve as the common national identifier for payment services powered by the Instant Payment Solution.

According to IPN, this collaborative approach will promote consistency in public awareness efforts while strengthening recognition and trust across the broader payment ecosystem.

Instant Payments Namibia, meanwhile, acknowledged the guidance of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, as well as the valuable contributions of participating institutions across the banking and payments industry.

“Their collaboration, expertise, and commitment continue to drive the successful implementation of the Instant Payment Solution. Special appreciation is also extended to our technology partner, International Payments Limited a subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India, for its technical support and partnership in developing a modern, secure, and interoperable payment platform for Namibia,” they concluded.
