“I was praying we could get the harvest done and then I could go and get some treatment but it’s going to be slap bang in the middle.”
An emotional Cooper then tells Clarkson to “look after yourself” and says “if you need anything, just ring”.

Clarkson then explains he would be undergoing surgery in the next few weeks and likely be out of action as he recovers.
“Listen, I’m not daft, it’s going to be in about two weeks, maybe three,” he says of his surgery. “I’ll have to go and have an operation and then, the operation is in and out in no time, but your body’s out of action for a little while.”
After returning from his initial surgery later in the episode, Clarkson reveals to Cooper he had “10%” of his prostate removed via ultrasound.
“The prostate, 10% of it’s dead,” he says. “The 10% where the cancer is.”
The season then ends with footage of Clarkson in a hospital bed as he tries to remain positive.
“So we started season five with me in a hospital bed and we are at the end of season five and I’m back in a hospital bed,” he says on camera.
The personality revealed there had been complications during his treatment, but he was leaning into his dark sense of humour to help him process the situation.

“Some of the treatment has gone awry, let’s say. I’m going to be here for a little while. I’m nil by mouth, I don’t know what’s going to happen,” he says.
“What I wanted to say was if this is all successful, I’ll see you for season six, and if it isn’t, I won’t. Take care, everyone.”
