After the episodes aired, fans and friends of the TV host posted well-wishes on social media – and praised Clarkson for speaking up about a disease impacting “too many men”.
Fellow British TV host Piers Morgan took to social media to send his well-wishes to Clarkson.
Sharing a photo of the two of them together, Morgan recalled receiving a text message from Clarkson on Boxing Day and said it made sense to him now.
“I was surprised when Jeremy Clarkson texted me on Boxing Day, a few days after this pic was taken, to say how much he liked my @paddypowerofficial ad urging men to get tested for prostate cancer. Now I understand,” Morgan wrote.
“I wish my old sparring partner all the best with his treatment. Guys, have a PSA test, it may save your life,” he added.
Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he was “very sorry” to hear of Clarkson’s cancer diagnosis and wished him “a full and speedy recovery”.
“Prostate cancer affects far too many men and early diagnosis can make all the difference,” he added.
Prostate Cancer UK thanked Clarkson for sharing his prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment with the public and for “raising vital awareness with the millions of men and families watching”.
“Thankfully he found the disease at an early stage, but sadly this is still not the experience of many men across the UK.
“Over 10,000 dads, brothers, sons and friends are diagnosed too late for a cure every year, and today the responsibility to know if you’re at higher risk and to act on it rest entirely on men’s shoulders. This must change,” the charity added.
Clarkson posted a video on Instagram ahead of the episodes airing, saying they were “a difficult watch”.
“They’re really, really difficult,” he added.
Fans and friends sent their support to Clarkson in the comments.
“You’re so brave. I’m so sorry,” British businesswoman Carole Bamford commented.
Fans also offered their own personal stories of cancer fights – and successes.
“Keep fighting Jeremy. My dad had prostate cancer twice, once in his 40s and again in his 70s. He made a full recovery both times and lived to the grand age of 91,” one Instagram user told him.
Irish actress Lisa Hogan, Clarkson’s girlfriend of nearly a decade, has thanked people for their support.
She posted a photo of Clarkson sitting in the garden with his camera, captioned “back at the farm”.
Clarkson revealed on the show that there had been complications during his treatment, but he was leaning into his dark sense of humour to help him process the situation.

“Some of the treatment has gone awry, let’s say. I’m going to be here for a little while. I’m nil by mouth, I don’t know what’s going to happen,” he says.
