Police identify body recovered from Lake Tekapo as Baldeep Singh

Police have named the person whose body was found in Lake Tekapo last week.

Christchurch man Baldeep Singh, 34, died after he reportedly came off the town’s main bridge and failed to resurface on June 11.

An extensive search operation was launched involving police, Coastguard Mackenzie Lakes volunteers, Fire
and Emergency New Zealand, a helicopter crew and the Police Dive Squad.

The Police Dive Squad recovered his body about 2pm the next day.
