(NewsNation) — Savannah Guthrie has taken a few days off from the “Today” show.
Guthrie was off from the long-running morning show on Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18, to film the “Wordle” game show.

“Today” co-anchor Craig Melvin explained Guthrie’s absence from work after previously saying she was “on assignment.”
“Savannah starts production meetings on the ‘Wordle’ game show coming to NBC,” Melvin said on Thursday.
Sheinelle Jones, who covered for Guthrie, added, “It’s coming! Yeah, I’m excited for her.”
“Perhaps Savannah is amongst the huge crowd taking over the streets of New York today for the Knicks’ victory parade,” Jones, who co-hosts the fourth hour of “Today,” joked.

Guthrie announced last month that she will host a “Wordle” game show, based on the popular New York Times game, which will be produced by Jimmy Fallon.
She posted a picture of her Wordle nameplate on her Instagram Story, showing her initials.
The anchor is expected to return to the morning show on Monday, June 22, People Magazine reported.
Guthrie’s short break from the show comes amid an investigation into the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.

On January 31, Nancy Guthrie was last seen heading to her home in Tucson, Arizona.
Law enforcement believes Nancy Guthrie was most likely targeted before she was taken from her home.
Savannah Guthrie made her emotional return to “Today” in April, opening the newscast with, “It is good to be home.”
