Industrial designers need to have fun, too. Here Canadian ID’er Jamie Wolfond unveils his tongue-in-cheek Tactical Coat Rack:
A free-standing coat rack is essentially a portable solution to the wall-mounted coat hook. Tactical Coat Rack takes this idea to its extreme.
Designed by abstracting the mechanism of a ubiquitous tripod, Tactical Coat Rack can be shipped in a tube, easily deployed, and tucked away just as easily when no longer needed. The resulting product is equal parts silly and serious, which as it turns out are not mutually exclusive.
Wolfond created it for Objects May Vary, an annual design exhibition platform. The rack will be unveiled at 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen.
