Police have located a body in the search for a missing Tauranga man.

The body was found off the Pahoia Peninsula on Thursday evening, after ongoing efforts to locate 56-year-old Aaron Franklin, who was reported missing on June 8.

Police said on Wednesday that while Franklin was reported missing earlier
this month, he had not been seen since May.

Formal identification is still underway but police said the body is believed to be Franklin.

Police have been in contact with his family and are providing them with support.
