A pedestrian is in a critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Māngere.

The police received reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian at the intersection of Buckland and Massey Rds at 10.46am.

A spokesperson for St John said the pedestrian was taken to Middlemore
Hospital with critical injuries.

The road has now been reopened after it was closed earlier while the Serious Crash Unit completed a scene examination.
