Jacinda Ardern and Clarke Gayford’s home in the Auckland suburb of Sandringham is up for sale.
There is no mention or a hint of the famous owner in the listing’s description.
Ardern confirmed her move to Sydney earlier this year and told Australian media this month that she was enjoying living a private life across the Ditch.
“There’s so many similarities between Kiwis and Aussies and so it’s so like home in so many ways,” she said.
“People have been so welcoming.
“So, it’s probably been our favourite bit, and then the beach.”
Ardern moved into the Sandringham home in early 2018 with partner Clarke Gayford – now her husband – in anticipation of the birth of their first child, Neve Te Aroha. That followed Ardern’s sudden rise to the Labour leadership and election as Prime Minister in 2017. Ardern spent nearly six years in the top job, and events that shaped her leadership included the White Island eruption, the Christchurch mosque terror attacks and the Covid-19 pandemic. She retired from politics before the end of her second term, saying she had “nothing left in the tank”.
Online records at the time show that when Ardern and Gayford purchased the Sandringham home it was valued at $1.7 million. The current listing’s information shows the property has a capital value of $2.3m and a land value of $1.8m.

A tree house can be seen tucked into a large pohutukawa out the back, which was already there when the family moved in eight years ago.
A newer playhouse stands neatly beside the backyard deck and appears to be painted in the same colours as the house.
