Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun film slated for October 2026 release

The trailer shows the moment Josie and Klara meet, with an unimpressed mother standing by.

“Honey, if I’m going to buy you a robot, I’m not going to be spending money on an old, outdated one,” Josie’s mother, played by award-winning Amy Adams, says.

“You said that I can choose, and I choose Klara. She’s special,” Josie replies.

“And she’s on special! 20% off,” the shopkeeper chimes in.

Waititi has been busy this year directing three ads for the Super Bowl, more than any other creative, and pocketing an estimated $10 million for his efforts, the Herald reported.

He had directorial credits on an ad reimagining Jurassic Park for internet company Xfinity, which featured members of the movie’s original cast, including fellow Kiwi, Sir Sam Neill.

On top of that, Waititi acted in and directed Pepsi’s The Choice commercial, which took aim at rival brand Coca-Cola, and he also directed a heart-warming sequel to his 2025 Lays chips Little Farmer commercial.
