There are currently 5,469 estates sitting unclaimed, with no known heirs coming forward.
The estates are held by the Treasury Solicitor’s Bona Vacantia Division (BVD), which deals with the property of people who die without a will and without identifiable blood relatives.
Among the latest update, published on June 22, 15 estates are linked to people who died in Cumbria.
The individuals, whose estates remain unclaimed, are:

The BVD publishes the list to help potential relatives come forward and claim estates within a set time limit.
If no rightful heirs are identified, the assets, which can range from modest savings to significant sums, remain with the Crown.
Anyone who believes they may be related to someone on the list is advised to check the official gov.uk website, where guidance is available on how to make a claim.
