Tree falls on West Auckland home with tenants inside

A large tree from a council reserve has fallen on a West Auckland house with the tenants inside, causing significant damage to the property.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said the tree had uprooted from a neighbouring reserve, falling over the fence line and onto the house in
Pooks Rd in Ranui.

The tenants were inside the house at the time, but were on the other side to where it had fallen and escaped injury.

The spokesperson said the tenants were able to source alternative accommodation and they were able to safely retrieve their belongings after crew assessed and secured the scene.
