Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr and her billionaire husband Evan Spiegel have helped wipe $US550 million (about $797 million) in unpaid medical debt for more than 260,000 people in California.
The couple, who are based in Los Angeles, announced the news in a video in partnership with Undue Medical Debt, a nonprofit that aims to erase medical debt.

“One of the reasons we wanted to share this directly is because if you happen to receive a letter in the mail letting you know your medical debt has been forgiven, we want you to know it’s real,” Kerr said in the clip.
“When someone you love is sick, all you want to do is focus on helping them get better.
“That’s why we wanted to support this effort and help relieve medical debt, so families can focus on caring for their loved ones and really supporting their healing.
“To everyone whose debt is being relieved through this effort, we’re sending you and your loved ones so much love.”
Spiegel added: “We hope this brings a little piece of mind and allows you to focus on what matters the most.”
In the caption of the Instagram video, the nonprofit said more than 260,000 people in California are being helped and relieved of their medical debt.
“Thanks to the support of @evanspiegel and @mirandakerr, more than $550 million in medical debt has been relieved for over 260,000 Californians,” it read in part.
The pair were praised for their efforts by fans underneath the video, with one writing: “This is so amazing, wow – what an example!❤️”

The pair, who married in 2017, have both enjoyed huge entrepreneurial success, with Spiegel, 36, being the co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc.
His net worth is said to be upwards of $US2billion.
Kerr meanwhile, who hails from the country town of Gunnedah, NSW, is believed to have a net worth upwards of $US60million.
The Victoria’s Secret model, 43, who was the first and only Australian model to become an official ‘Angel’ for the brand so far, has her own wellness brand, KORA Organics.
