The Princess of Wales had a private meeting with Bill Gates’s former wife, it has been claimed. The tech giant has always been close with the Royal Family and attended various royal engagements in the past; however, his links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein resulted in the relationship getting strained.

His ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, however, who divorced him due to the “lack of honesty” among other reasons, has kept a close bond with the Firm. On Tuesday, she was reportedly invited to Windsor Castle for private talks with Princess Catherine. According to the Daily Mail, it is not known what the two women discussed during their meeting; however, it is thought their charity endeavours may have played a part.

Catherine is patron of the Royal Foundation, and Melinda is the founder of Pivotal, a philanthropic organisation promoting women’s empowerment.

Last year, during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Melinda spoke about her divorce from the co-founder of Microsoft.

She claimed that, in order to have a “trusted relationship, which is what I wanted in marriage,” that means that “both partners have to be honest with one another.

“And if you can’t, you can’t have intimacy, and you can’t have trust.

“So in the end, I had to go.”

It comes after a busy week for the Princess of Wales, who last week attended the Garter Day Service in Windsor, as well as Royal Ascot.

The Princess’s return to the annual racing event took place after two years of absence.
