One person has been rescued from a burning Kāinga Ora flat in central Auckland.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand went to a three-storey apartment building on Tuarangi Rd in Grey Lynn, across from Western Springs Park, at 3.43pm this afternoon.

A shift manager told the Herald one person had to
be rescued from the blaze.

They were passed into the care of waiting Hato Hone St John ambulance staff.
