A child has been hit by a car in central Auckland during the after-school run.

Police rushed to Haverstock Rd in Sandringham about 3.42pm to find a “primary aged child” who had suffered moderate injuries.

Hato Hone St John ambulance staff treated the child before taking them to Auckland City
Hospital in a moderate condition.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager said two fire trucks went to the scene and found no one trapped.
