Kobori shone in wet conditions that broke a recent heatwave across the United Kingdom.
“It wasn’t ideal but I got through it. After I finished, it seemed like a sunshine and rainbow [appeared]…definitely challenging in the rain and wind.
“I’m hitting good off the tee and putting it pretty good. So when you do those two things, life’s pretty good as a golfer,” Kobori added.
Masters winners Sergio Garcia and Danny Willett, with YouTube golfers Wesley and George Bryan all failed to qualify at the event.
Kobori didn’t have much time to celebrate, getting in a car with fellow Open qualifier Samuel Bairstow and catch a flight at nearby Manchester Airport, with an early tee time practice round at the BMW International Open in Munich.
After recording a top 20 finish at the Italian Open over the weekend, Kobori will look to continue his form in Munich where he finished third last year.
