The 10km journey was expected to take almost 40 minutes as of 8.30am.
The motorway was closed for half an hour while emergency services worked to clear the crash area, with police warning drivers that both westbound lanes remain blocked in two places.
“Traffic flowing through is minimal and slow currently.”
One person received moderate injuries, said the spokesperson.
