A police patrol unit soon identified the stolen vehicle on State Highway 12, west of Kaikohe.
Officers deployed spikes on SH12 to stop the car, he said.
“With three tyres deflated, the vehicle came to a stop.
“The driver and three passengers were arrested and taken into custody,” Fagan said.
A large knife was allegedly found in the vehicle, he said.

Fagan was full of praise for the skill, teamwork and commitment of the police staff.
“This is a fantastic result,” he said.
Four males aged between 12 and 16 will be referred to Youth Aid, Fagan said.
