Household internet speeds are set to increase by up to 500 per cent this month as NBN Co rolls out the upgrade to download and upload speeds. With the rollout comes warnings from Australian telcos that households and businesses will need the right gear and the right plan to enjoy the new speedy internet. The fastest plans will become even faster, with NBN100 plans the entry point.
Here’s what you need to know:
NBN 100 plans will upgrade to maximum download speeds of 500MbpsNBN 250 plans will upgrade to 750MbpsNBN 500 will upgrade to 50Mbps, as will NBN 750NBN 1000 plans will still be limited to 1000Mbps, but upload speeds will double to 100Mbps
Faster NBN plans will also only be available to those with fibre to the premises (FTTP) and hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) broadband connections.
Those with fibre to the node (FTTN) and fibre to the curb (FTTC) connections can upgrade to FTTP to enjoy the new speed.
